Gift shop

In the hospital’s main entrance hall you will find several facilities for visitors and patients. 

  • The gift shop in the main hall stocks reading material, such as books, newspapers, magazines and comic strips. Small toiletries, fruit, sweets, drinks, flowers and plants are also for sale.
  • During weekdays the shop is open from 9a.m. to 7p.m.. Weekend opening times are: Saturday from 1.30p.m. to 6p.m., Sunday from 1.30p.m. to 7p.m.
  • The gift shop can be reached by telephone on +32 (0)2 477 87 84.

Bank / Telephone / Toilets

There is an ATM in the vicinity of the newspaper store and the hairdresser. An ING bank branch is currently under construction.

There are public phone booths in four different locations around the hospital: the central hall, the entrance to the outpatients clinic, the entrance to the children’s hospital (UZ Brussel Kinderziekenhuis) and the emergency unit. These phones operate with coins and with phonecards, which can be purchased in the gift shop.
The number for the switchboard is +32 (0)2 477 41 11.

Visitors’ toilets are located in the main entrance hall and on the first floor, right next to the visitors’ lifts.

Cafetaria

  • There are two cafeteria: one close to the hospital’s main entrance, another at the entrance to the children’s hospital (UZ Brussel Kinderziekenhuis). 
  • The cafeteria in the central hall is open on weekdays from 8a.m. to 7.45 p.m., during weekends from 12.30p.m. to 7.45 p.m.. 
  • The cafetaria in the children’s hospital is open during weekdays from 9a.m. to 2.45p.m.. It is closed at weekends. 
  • Patients and visitors can purchase and enjoy drinks and snacks in this leisurly environment. Alcoholic beverages are limited to two per person. 
  • Since patients are required to stay in their rooms in the morning, cafeteria visits are only allowed in the afternoon. In certain cases, patients’ medical condition precludes them from visiting the cafeteria. If uncertain, consult your nurse. 
  • For patients on a restricted diet, snacks or treats may be inappropriate. Your attending nurse can provide guidance. 
  • The cafetaria in the main entrance hall can be reached by phone on 87 94.

Vending machines for sweets and soft drinks

Vending machines are situated at the following locations:

  • On each floor in the proximity of the (5) patient lifts, there is a vending machine for soft drinks 
  • On level + 2 next to the patient lifts, there is a vending machine for soft drinks, water en sweets.

 The vending machines operate with Euros.

Mail

  • There is a public letterbox near the revolving door in the main hall 
  • Stamps can be bought in the gift shop.
  • Mail for the hospital can be deposited in the letter box at the hospital’s main entrance

Hairdresser

  • The hairdresser caters for men and women and is situated in the main entrance hall. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday included.
  • Patients can also have their hair done in their room. Find out how from the attending nurse or call 02 477 87 85.

Pedicure / Borrowing books

Patients can request an appointment for pedicure through the attending nurse.

Books can be borrowed from the Red Cross hospital library. A volunteer brings them round once a week. Please remember to return borrowed books when leaving the hospital. If you are unable to return the books to the Red Cross volunteer, then leave them with the attending nurse.
