140 staff are employed by the Radiology Department, including 57 nurses and Medical Imaging Experts, 31 secretarial staff, 12 associates in support functions, 7 computer specialists and 33 Physician-Radiologists.

The doctors and nurses also provide an on-call service.

During the last twenty years, the Department has scored significantly in the areas of research and tuition. 15 of the 110 Radiologists who received their training here are active in major centres abroad.
Thanks to its proximity to the Medicine and Pharmacy Faculty of the Free University of Brussels, the Department finds itself in a privileged position. Nevertheless the research efforts are still somewhat underdeveloped. University Hospitals too are subject to the laws of economics. Very often, the immediate pressure to deliver is so high that it stifles scientific research.
However, there has been a transition in recent years. There is growing recognition that scientific research is essential towards booking steady clinical progress. Thanks to optimal planning, contacts within industry and creative projects, new opportunities are being created for scientific research within the Department.
