What do we do?

People suffering from serious, life-threatening diseases sometimes need additional support beside the medical examinations and treatments performed by the hospital.
They may then need additional psychological or welfare support, care for the alleviation of pain or other symptoms, help when returning home or in searching for alternative place to stay.
A caring ‘Support Team’ is available to this end. Do not hesitate to contact them, they are there to help you. This service is free.

Who is eligible to call on the Support Team?
Patients, their families, nurses or the consulting physicians can call on the team, which always works closely with the treating doctors and the other carers.

Availability
The Support Team can be reached by calling +32 (0)2 477 48 84.

Supportive Day Centre TOPAZ

UZ Brussel manages TOPAZ in Wemmel, a Day Centre for seriously ill patients. Patients suffering from life-threatening diseases are welcome there night and day. This helps to alleviate their families and allows them to live at home for longer, ideally right to the end.

For further information about TOPAZ: tel. + 32 (0)2 456 82 02 or visit the website.
