What do we do?
During UZ Brussel’s existence the Gynaecology specialism has developed into an independent functional service within the Department Gynaecology – Obstetrics – Fertility.
However, in many cases there is no clear dividing line so that multidisciplinary cooperation between the department’s three services or with other hospital departments becomes necessary.
The Gynaecology Department’s various subcomponents include:
· Sexual Development and Paediatric Gynaecology,
· Adolescent Gynaecology,
· Unwanted Pregnancies,
· Preconception Counsel,
· Gynaecological Infections and STDs,
· Gynaecological Cancer Prevention,
· Gynaecological Tumours and Oncology,
· Gynaecological Urology.
The university Gynaecology Department’s main focus is on the development of excellent technical-surgical activity. Its emphasis is on correct diagnosis and treatment thanks to the use of modern and innovative techniques.
Each employee has their own area of expertise, special qualification or specific tasks. However, a full team of colleagues ensures an integrated, effective but humane approach, thanks to coordinated dialogue and cooperation. More detailed information about the diverse subareas, technical exams or surgical interventions can be found in the information section.
