Scientific research is of course also an important part of the work that we do. Every Belgian genetics centre has its own research specialties. For the CMG at UZ Brussel these are: preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), mitochondrial disorders, male infertility, inherited cardiac arrhythmias and stem cells.
This research does not take place exclusively in our laboratories. The CMG has received significant worldwide recognition over a number of years for one specific research project: long-term follow-up for children born after their parents received fertility treatment at UZ Brussel.
