Donations
You may make a donation to UZ Brussel overall. Besides providing care, an important mission of university hospitals is to undertake tuition and research. However, these activities are insufficiently funded by government, so that the hospital has to rely heavily on donations. For further information, please contact the Communication Department on number +32 (0)2 477 80 80.
You may prefer to provide support for a specific project. Within the hospital, there are countless projects that really need your support.
This project of the Kidney Disease Department dearly needs your support. The Department organises an annual day trip for patients and their families. To give patients the opportunity of a holiday during their treatment, the Department makes arrangements with local dialysis centres. They rely on corporate and private donations to sponsor these activities. Such donations are tax deductible. Please donate via bank transfer to the bank account of UZ Brussel 375-1007077-05, mentioning “Beneficiary rek. 44501008”.
The Children’s Hospital also needs your support for numerous children-centric projects which it intends to develop, such as a cuddle space and leisure activities for junior cancer patients.
When a child suffers from cancer, this affects the whole family. This is why UZ Brussel has launched the “Villa Matilda” project, to help families carry on with family life during treatment (cooking together, watching TV, ironing…). “Villa Matilda” is not only a family-friendly project; it also fosters bridges between fellow patients (which are highly appreciated). The house is connected to the Children’s Oncology Department with a tunnel. There is great value in the symbolism of a space outside of the hospital’s walls, as it stands out as a safe area, far removed from injections, treatments and other nasty experiences.
The not-for-profit organisation, vzw K.O.K. (Child, Parents and Cancer), was established to render the life of sick little children as comfortable as possible during and after treatment.
For example, they organise joint trips (e.g. to Walibi or Euro Disney), they buy suitable toys for the patients’ rooms etc. This is only possible with your support. Please transfer your gift to bank account number 001-5189826-14. If you require more information, please contact Mrs Cosyns (+32 (0)2 477 57 66) or Mrs Will Stokman-Loenen on number +32 (0)2 476 36 28.
PAika is ward which helps girls and boys aged 0 to 17 years with psychological problems.
PAika is dependent upon donations to be able to further extend the facilities for patients. There is currently a project to add to the gym’s furnishings, such as climbing racks. This can only happen with your financial support!
For further information, please call number +32 (0)2 477 60 72. You can also send an email to kinderpsychiatrie@uzbrussel.be.
The Oncology Centre too hopes to be able to count on your financial support, with a view to continue funding projects and initiatives, scientific research and existing research projects. For further information, please call number +32 (0)2 477 62 11. You can also send an email to funding_oc@uzbrussel.be.
Testament.be is the name of the common national campaign of 40 charities, including the Children’s Hospital of UZ Brussel. The Children’s Hospital of University Hospital Brussels is aimed at children and youngsters up to 16 years. Children are its central focus, which is why it encompasses a truly child-friendly environment. More than 300 staff work closely together to provide the necessary care to every child in need. The hospital has about 100 beds.
A distinguishing feature of the Children’s Hospital is its little school and recreation area, where a teacher, a psychologist and a medical pedagogue look after the children. Recently, a special ward has been opened for children with mental problems. The Children’s Hospital has a great need for financial donations to be able to carry through the many child-specific projects which it hopes to develop, such as creating a cuddle zone and organising leisure activities for cancer patients.
You may, of course, bequeath your legacy in support of whichever of the hospital’s departments or projects, according to your preference.
Anyone who wishes to commit their legacy to the hospital is invited to contact the coordinators of testament.be. You may prefer to discuss matters at your home. Or by telephone: +32 (0)2 210 53 00. The so-called ‘Duo-Legacy’ (duolegaat) is an instrument which makes it possible to commit a legacy to a registered charity in a manner which is also beneficial to heirs. Further information can be found on www.testament.be.
