What (not) to bring?

You will be handed a Patients Information Brochure at the Admissions Desk of the entrance hall in Zone A/White zone. Here are some key items from this brochure.
 
What to bring?
  • UZ Brussel patient badge, ID card, SIS (social security) card and, where applicable, your health insurance card.
  • Referral notice from your physician, if possible your blood group card.
  • Name, address and telephone numbers of your GP, your next of kin and your health or accident insurance.
  • Citizens from other EU countries should bring the E111 or E112 document, or the European insurance card.
  • A deposit to cover your hospital admission, either in cash or by debit or credit card. The hospital accepts the following cards, among others: Bancontact, Proton, Visa, American Express ...
  • You may opt for a single or two-person room, each with a different price. For further information, call +32 (0)2 477 77 85.
  • A limited amount of cash to cover your incidental expenses.
  • Your regular medicine and anti-embolism stockings.
  • Any relevant X-Rays.
  • The hospital does not provide toiletries. You should therefore bring your own towels, bath towels, two flannels, soap, comb, tooth brush, tooth paste and, if necessary, your shaving gear.
  • Clothes: pyjamas, underwear, dressing gown, slippers…
  • Reading material or other pastimes.
What not to bring?
  • Large amounts of money, securities, bank documents, jewels, electronic equipment (such as mobile phones, laptops or music players). The hospital is not liable for damages caused by theft or loss.

Admissions to the Maternity

Patients requiring admissions between 8 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. can register at the Admissions Desk in Zone A/White Zone. All admissions after 8.30 p.m. are processed through the Emergency Department.
The delivery room is situated on the second floor. Following delivery, you will be taken to the Maternity Ward with your baby, likewise on the second floor.
Bring the following with you upon admission:
  • all necessary documentation,
  • personal toiletries and two packs of sanitary napkins,
  • for the baby: little socks, clothing for your departure, mittens, a soother, disposable paper diapers, a soft hair brush.

Admissions in Zone F/Blue Zone (children)

UZ Brussel has run its own Children’s Hospital since 1991. Its infrastructure is perfectly adapted to the needs of children. We strive to ensure that parents may spend the maximum amount of time with their children. You may request a parents-children’s room, so as to spend the night with your child.
The Children’s Hospital has its own Welcome Brochure. This can be found at the Children’s Hospital’s Admissions Desk. The Children’s Hospital is situated in Zone F/Blue Zone, which can be accessed through Entrance 3.
