Smoking & consumption of alcoholic beverages

Smoking causes damage to health. Smoking in public buildings and rooms is prohibited by Royal Decree. Smoking is strictly forbidden throughout the hospital. People who choose to smoke endanger the safety and health of others. Designated smoking areas are available on several locations outside the hospital. Patients who venture outside the hospital to smoke do so at their own risk. Closet smoking is an offence and endangers the whole hospital.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages is generally not allowed in the hospital.

    Mobile phones are allowed, but...

    • The use of mobile phones in the hospital is only forbidden in the Operating Ward, the Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatology Department.
    • However, do moderate your use of mobile phones to respect the hospital’s tranquillity; even more so if you are staying in a double room.

Food and medicines from outside the hospital

    • Ideally you should not bring your own food to the hospital.
    • If you do, then this is at entirely your own risk. The hospital cannot be liable for any resulting problems. Always check with the nurse whether there might be any counter indications.
    • You must at all times respect the hygiene guidelines concerning the transportation and handling of foodstuffs, which may otherwise be hazardous to patients.
    • You should not take any medicines acquired outside the hospital unless you have informed the nurse or the physician.

Relations with staff, fellow patients and visitors

    • Patients and visitors are expected to conform to socially accepted rules of conduct.
    • The hospital’s regulations must be strictly adhered to, such as the smoking prohibition and the visiting hours.
    • Are you the victim of an annoyance caused by fellow patients or visitors? Do not hesitate to inform the nurse or to call directly number 77 78.
