Preparing Your Visit
Preparing for your appointments can help ensure a smooth and comfortable visit.
Medical Reports
Please plan to send or carry to your first appointment a copy of the medical reports that you have provided to your international care coordinator, and any new reports that you have been given since. This information will be very important for your physician to review.
Diagnostic Imaging
Please make sure to send or bring the films and/or CD ROMs (DICOM compatible) of the diagnostic testing (CAT scan, MRI, PET scan, Ultrasound, Mammogram, X-ray, etc.) relevant to your diagnosis so that the physician may review these during your first consultation. You may be asked to mail this material prior to your appointment, in which case your international care coordinator will provide you with further instructions.
Language Support
Inform your international care coordinator in advance if you will require the assistance of a medical interpreter during your appointments. This service is available to all patients but additional charges may apply.
Finances (see also Financials)
It is also important that you consider the financial implications in advance of your trip.
If you have international insurance, please call your insurance company before leaving for Belgium so that they can launch the authorization process for financial clearance and process your entitlements with their local affiliates in Belgium.
If you are paying for you own care, you should be prepared to pay a deposit or show your payment receipt when you register for your first appointment
