Over prof. dr. Ellen Gorus

Prof dr. Ellen Gorus studeerde Klinische Psychologie (1995-2000) en Gerontologie (2000-2002) aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2006 is zij gestart als klinisch psycholoog binnen het zorgprogramma geriatrie, waar zij vooral expertise opbouwde rond de cognitieve diagnostiek bij ouderen. In 2007 behaalde ze haar doctoraatstitel met een proefschrift rond reactietijden als merker voor de vroegtijdige opsporing van de ziekte van Alzheimer. Zij is sinds 2010 verbonden als professor aan de vakgroep Gerontologie en de Frailty in Ageing (FRIA) research onderzoeksgroep van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Haar onderzoeksinteresses liggen in het domein van cognitieve kwetsbaarheid en active ageing bij kwetsbare ouderen.

Zij doceert over psychologische aspecten van het verouderen en psychogeriatrie in de opleidingen Master in het Management, Beleid en Zorg in de Gerontologie en in de Research Master Gerontological Sciences.
