Over prof. dr. Johan Vanlauwe

Johan Vanlauwe is werkzaam sinds oktober 2012 als afdelingshoofd op de dienst Orthopedie en Traumatologie. Zijn subspecialisatie is chirurgie van de knie en de voet. Hij is eveneens verantwoordelijk orthopedist binnen de diabetische voetkliniek. Hij legt er zich toe op het oplossen van orthopedische problemen in de voet die biomechanisch verantwoordelijk zijn voor het ontstaan van drukulcera bij diabetespatiƫnten.

Johan Vanlauwe studeerde af in de KUL in 1998 als orthopedisch chirurg en bekwaamde zich nadien Ć©Ć©n jaar in het UZ Gent. Hij behaalde zijn PhD in 2012 aan de KUL in het domein van kraakbeenceltransplantatie ter hoogte van de knie.

Als klinisch professor neemt hij deel aan klassikaal en bed side teaching van jonge artsen en kinesisten.

Johan Vanlauwe is auteur van 30 publicaties in PubMed.
