Angiomas and spider naevi
What?
Angiomas or age haemangiomas (cherry angiomas) are red marks that appear on the skin as a result of an accumulation of small red blood vessels. They are harmless but can be seen as a blemish cosmetically.
Spider naevi are so called because of their shape. They are formed by a dilated blood vessel with finer offshoots and usually occur on the face.
What type of laser?
The vascular laser is able to specifically target these blood vessels, causing them to shrink and the red patches will disappear.
Side effects?
A purple patch may appear at the site of the angioma or spider naevi immediately after the treatment. This will disappear after one or two weeks. As the epidermis or outer skin remains intact, camouflage can be applied to the patch the day after the treatment.
Precautions?
- Avoid exposure to the sun for four weeks before and after the treatment and wear sunscreen factor 50+.
- Do you suffer badly from cold sores? In that case, we start anti-herpes medication two days before the laser treatment.
- You can wear cosmetics from the day after the treatment and you can work as usual.
