Capillaroscopy

This test is used to make the diagnosis of Raynaud’s disease, among others.

What happens during the test

  1. The test takes about 30 minutes.

  2. Using a microscope the doctor looks at the nail bed of your fingers (or toes). In this way he is able to study the capillaries, which are the very finest arteries.

  3. Since the capillaries are sometimes abnormally narrowed in cold conditions, the doctor carries out this test after cold stimulation.
