The Radiology or Medical Imaging service seeks to identify the nature and location of a disease, injury or disorder. To do so, it uses:
- Radiographs
- X-rays
- Sound waves
- Magnetism
The examinations carried out in the radiology service relate to five main fields:
- Standard radiology - Mammography - Ultrasound
- CT scan
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Angiography (examination of the blood vessels)
- Paediatric radiology
As a university hospital, UZ Brussel continuously invests in high-performance equipment for the Radiology service. By doing so, the hospital aims to constantly improve the service provision in all branches of radiology and even anticipate developments.
