Diagnosis
To diagnose endometriosis, the doctor will do a physical examination and sometimes suggest additional tests, such as ultrasound, MRI or laparoscopy. This helps determine exactly how severe the endometriosis is and what the best course of treatment is for you.
Forms of endometriosis
Endometriosis can come in different forms. In some women it is mild, while in others it is more severe. There are four stages of endometriosis, from minimal to extensive. The greater the extent, the more severe the symptoms can get.
Treatment of endometriosis
There are several treatment options, depending on the severity of your symptoms and whether or not you have a desire to have children. Treatment options may include pain medication, hormonal treatments, surgery, fertility treatments and/or others. Together with your doctor, you will choose the approach that fits your situation best.
