About Prof. dr. Andrea Sarkozy

Professor Andrea Sarkozy graduated in 1995 from Semmelweis Medical University in Budapest (Hungary). In 2001, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Electrophysiology at St. Michael’s Hospital at the University of Toronto (2002-2003). She then went on to specialise in interventional electrophysiology. From 2007 until 2013, she led the clinical electrophysiology programme of the Heart Rhythm Management Center at UZ Brussel. There she also completed her PhD on “Brugada Syndrome: facts and controversies” under the supervision of Professor Pedro Brugada. From 2013 until 2022, she led the Electrophysiology programme of the Department of Cardiology of UZA and was employed as assistant professor at the University of Antwerp.

From 2014 until 2017, Professor Sarkozy also served as board member of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), after which she was appointed EHRA Webinar Course Director from 2017 until 2020. Since 2022, she is the co-chair of the EHRA congress scientific programme committee and a member of the scientific programme committee of the congress of the European Society of Cardiology.

Professor Andrea Sarkozy is an internationally recognised expert in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, in particular in the treatment of complex arrythmia and inherited cardiac arrythmias with catheter ablation.

She is the author of more than 140 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Moreover, she is also a principal investigator and national coordinator of clinical studies in various international multicenter studies and a reviewer for various international journals on cardiology and electrophysiology. She is also the supervisor and joint supervisor of various PhD projects.
