Permanent depilation

Permanent depilation

What?

Permanent depilation is possible for all skin types. We can use laser treatment to selectively destroy the root of the hairs with the result that they do not grow back again.

Indications?

  • Darker (brown to black) hairs on the cheeks, upper lip, neck, armpit, bikini line, arms or legs
  • White hairs cannot be treated with laser
  • As of the age of 16

What type of laser?

The type of laser used for permanent depilation depends on your skin type (light or darker):

  • Light skin types: Alexandrite laser
  • Darker skin types: Nd:Yag laser

Sessions?

The laser will specifically target the pigment (melanin) around the hair root. This pigment is only visible when the hair is in the growth phase (+/-85%). The number of sessions required to deal with all the hair roots and ensure permanent depilation will depend on the thickness, density and colour of the hairs. An interval of 4-6 weeks is allowed between the sessions.

Side effects?

Local redness may occur after the treatment. This will disappear after 48 hours at most.

Precautions?

  • Stop waxing or epilation three months before your laser treatment.
  • Shave the area to be treated three days before your laser treatment.
  • Avoid exposure to the sun for four weeks before and four weeks after the treatment, and wear sunscreen factor 50+.
