Dermatosis papulose nigra
What?
With darker skin types, small brown to black patches or bumps often form around the eyes or on the neck. These are not contagious.
What type of treatment?
The patches or bumps (which are also known as papules) can be carefully removed using electrocoagulation. This involves briefly touching the patch or bump.
Side effects?
As this condition occurs more frequently with darker skins, we are always very careful with the treatment. We always carry out a test treatment first in order to avoid hypopigmentation. After careful assessment, the full treatment can be scheduled.
