Tattoo removal

Tattoo removal

What?

On tattooed skin, the colour in the tattoo is caused by tattoo pigment particles. The density of the pigment will vary depending on your tattoo artist. With lower quality tattoos, the pigment particles are less dense and they are therefore easier to remove.

A tattoo can be removed on virtually any skin type. Always discuss the possibilities with your dermatologist beforehand.

Which type of laser?

The ultrashort pulse of the Q-switch Alexandrite laser allows us to destroy the pigment without damaging the skin structure itself.

Side effects?

The laser treatment may be painful, so it is advisable to apply a numbing cream on and around the tattoo site at home, one hour before treatment.

After the treatment, little white dots will be visible on the tattooed skin. These are caused by the formation of gas bubbles and will disappear after a few minutes. The skin may look red for a few hours after the treatment and in exceptional cases scabs may form.

Sessions?

Several sessions will be necessary. The number of sessions depends on multiple factors:

  • Colour and number of different colours
  • Density of pigment
  • Ink used by the tattoo artist

Precautions?

  • Avoid exposure to the sun for four weeks before and six weeks after the treatment and wear sunscreen factor 50+.
  • You should apply the numbing cream at home under a plastic film one hour before the laser treatment.
