Redness and acne rosacea
Do you suffer from a red flush? With acne rosacea, the surface blood vessels of the skin are dilated causing the face to glow.
The following factors can trigger an increase in this redness:
- Alcohol intake
- Heat
- Spicy food
- Emotions
Which type of laser?
The vascular laser is able to specifically target these blood vessels, causing them to shrink, and the disruptive redness will decrease. This laser can be used safely for all skin types.
How many sessions are needed?
For an initial treatment, an average of 2-3 sessions are needed, at intervals of 4-6 weeks. After this, it is advisable to schedule maintenance treatment every year or two years. The treatment takes 30 minutes.
Is it painful?
During the treatment you feel a succession of small pricks. As the laser also constantly cools the skin, this is a pleasant feeling and no anaesthetic is necessary.
Side effects?
Immediately after the treatment the skin may look red and there is sometimes some swelling. This redness will fade over the course of the week. In some cases, small scabs may appear. These heal quickly.
Precautions?
- Avoid exposure to the sun for four weeks before and after the treatment and wear sunscreen factor 50+.
- Do you suffer badly from cold sores? In that case, start anti-herpes medication two days before the laser treatment and continue to take it for three days afterwards.
- You can wear cosmetics from the day after the treatment.
