Muscle relaxants
What?
A muscle relaxant or botulinum toxin is injected to counteract overactive muscles. This tightens the skin and prevents wrinkle formation.
It does not affect your normal facial expression.
Indications?
- Crow’s feet
- Frown lines
- Horizontal lines on the forehead
Complications?
The treatment itself is not painful, although you will feel successive small pricks in your skin. Slight swelling and local bruising is possible after the treatment. This will disappear after a week at most. You should not do any sport for 48 hours after the treatment.
You may not take any blood thinners for four days before this treatment. Always discuss your use of medication with your dermatologist.
Duration?
You will notice an effect after 3-5 days. The full result is visible after 14 days. Depending on the zone and the quantity of product injected, the effect will last for three to six months. For an optimal effect, you can repeat the treatment every six months. You can do this on a lasting basis. The treatment takes a maximum of 30 minutes.
